Chicago - It's opening day for the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field, and fans will get to see what’s hot in the park and the new look of the game. The Sox face the Detroit Tigers at 1:10 p.m.
FOX Chicago’s Patrick Elwood spoke with former White Sox left fielder Carlos May, at the fan-favorite bar Cork & Kerry in Bridgeport.
May, 63, now lives in the south suburbs, said he thinks this year's team is going to do just fine. He's a big fan of new manager Robin Ventura and said he is a "class guy." May hopes Ventura can do something great with the new team, saying that there's a good nucleus.
The bar was hopping by 7:45 a.m. Friday, where fans grabbed a bite and played bags with Patrick. They're optimistic about their chances for greatness this season.
"We've got a better manager," one fan said. "No garbage, no circus. We'll be good."
FOX Chicago’s Dionne Miller spoke with Emily Beazley, one of the White Sox's yungest fans, Friday morning.
Nine-year-old Beazly had the opportunity to appear in “A Christmas Carol” with Robin Ventura through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
“It was magical,” Beazly said. “I wasn’t nervous, but he was!”
Beazly is also a huge Chicago White Sox fan, and will watch the home opener from a suite at The Cell. She said she’ll even get to ride in a limo to get to the game.
Dionne also spoke with one of the oldest Sox fans, Glenn Brown. He's 103 years old, turning 104 on May 19.
He's been a White Sox fan for as long as he can remember. Brown said he first read about the team in a Chicago newspaper back in 1919.
Brown has been forunate enough to be around for both times the White Sox won the World Series in the 20th century - in 1917 and 2005. He even got to attend the 2005 win.
Friday will be Brown's first opening day. He's attending with his son, grandson and great-grandson. Brown said he feels like part the Sox famliy, since the team is so much a part of theirs.
Brown thinks the team is going to be alright this year, as long as "that pitcher holds up."
Buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks – and Wi-fi? Boingo Wireless is offering Wi-Fi at The Cell this season.
Access will be free as part of an introductory offer. Paid Boingo subscribers will get faster speeds.
A White Sox spokesman said the move is to accommodate the "skyrocketing number of Wi-Fi enabled" devices at games.
There are also some new treats White Sox fans can enjoy while watching the good guys. One woman even turned her family recipe into a flourishing business.
The White Sox have a new manager, a new sense of optimism and a new taste of good old fashion American – rather, Indiana barbeque - down home style!
Hoosier Daddy is the product of perfection sprinkled with love, dedication and perseverance. The sauce is the creation of Kimberlee Foy's father Bill who loved to share his homemade goods.
Big Bill passed away from cancer several years ago in 2007. But he left behind one delicious recipe, and a daughter who was determined to commercially bottle it and take it to market.
Foy did just that in 2011 with a great support staff of her husband and other family and friends.

“It’s phenomenal,” Foy said, “it’s 100 percent flavor.”
This year, along with a new pork paddy called Da Burger, fan and their families can enjoy it at every White Sox home game.
It’s only appropriate. If Big Bill was anything, he was a great father and husband.
“He loved his family...he was very devoted,” Foy said. “I think he is proud of me.”

The icing on this cake, is all about charity. A portion of the proceeds is donated to a research foundation Foy established in her father's name.
The sauce is also available at a grocery store near you, or soon will be. So let's play ball, and let's eat up Indiana style.
Other goodies to dig into at U.S. Cellular: the Bases Loaded baked potato, Da Bruger Double Play featuring Hoosier Daddy sauce, Hooters wings, and the Stuffed Burger.
Dionne got a chance to speak with White Sox sales and marketing manager Brooks Boyer, who shared some of the promotional giveaways the team has planned for the season.
Among them are 1972 replica jerseys, pillow pets, White Sox bats, Carlton Fisk statues, stylish women's totes and various baseball hats.
All of these items can be found at the park's new Chicago Sports Depot or on the White Sox website. Boyer said the store is stocked with sports gear for all Chicago teams.
