Update on animal shooting on 79th

I love this read the last line after reading the article.

Five people were wounded as they were apparently waiting for a CTA bus this afternoon in the South Shore neighborhood on the South Side.

The shooting happened in the 7900 block of South Jeffery Boulevard, said Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.

Preliminary reports stated the victims were standing at the corner when someone approached on foot and opened fire, striking them. The gunman then fled in a minivan, said Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.

One of the victims, a 19-year-old woman, suffered a gunshot wound to her right side and her back and was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Zala said.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in his chest and taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital. Two 17-year-old boys were wounded. One suffered a graze wound and was taken to South Shore Hospital where his condition had stabilized. The other boy was shot in his upper thigh and was taken to Stroger.

A 20-year-old man walked to South Shore Hospital. He was shot in his hand, Zala said.

Police recovered the minivan a short distance away from the shootings. A gun was found inside of the van, Zala said.Police believe the shooting was possibly gang-related.

As of 6:30 p.m., no one was in custody for the shooting.
