Wildebeast still at large. Huge man hunt for the wild animal shooting up neighborhoods

An adult man who died from his wounds was among seven people shot across the city's South and West sides Thursday night and Friday morning, according to Chicago Police.

Police responding to a shots fired call on the 600 block of East 88th Street in the Burnside neighborhood found a man lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. Additional details about the incident weren't immediately available early Friday morning.

Someone walked up to a 32-year-old man who was standing on the sidewalk in the 5100 block of West Kinzie Street in the South Austin neighborhood and started shooting, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition, despite suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the back and right leg. Area North detectives are investigating the shooting.

Two men, 21 and 24, were shot about 1:10 a.m. on the 6400 block of South Paulina Street in the West Englewood neighborhood, police said. They were standing on the sidewalk when someone inside a dark-colored van shot at them. The younger man was hit in the upper right thigh and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the other was shot in the foot and taken to Holy Cross Hospital in stable condition, police said.

A 36-year-old man was shot in the knee in the first shooting on the 7800 block of South Constance Avenue, Alfaro said. The man was standing on the street when three people walked up to him and one pulled out a weapon and shot him, Alfaro said. He was taken to Jackson Park Hospital with a gunshot wound to his right knee and is in stable condition, Alfaro said.

A 17-year-old was wounded in West Englewood about 10:50 p.m. He was on a sidewalk in the 6300 block of South Bishop Street when a male shot him from a nearby gangway, Alfaro said. The teen was hit in the right thigh and taken to Holy Cross Hospital in stable condition, Alfaro said.

About 40 minutes later, a 15-year-old boy was standing on the street with a group of males in the Gresham neighborhood when someone opened fire, police said. The boy suffered a graze wound to the head and was shot in the right foot, police said. He was taken from the 7600 block of South Peoria Street to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition, Alfaro said.

Area South detectives are investigating the shootings and nobody is in custody.
