An 11-year-old Bloomingdale boy died in an ATV accident in west suburban
Bartlett Thursday night, according to authorities.
Samuel Sloan was struck by an ATV driven by a relative at a home on the 800
block of West Apple Tree Lane about 5:40 p.m., Bartlett Fire Protection District
Batallion Chief Ralph DeFreece said.
Sloan wasn’t driving or riding on the machine at the time of the accident,
DeFreece said. A Bartlett
FPD ambulance took the boy to Central DuPage Hospital, DeFreece said.
Sloan was then airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood,
where he was pronounced dead at 9:10 p.m., a spokeswoman for the Cook County
medical examiner’s office said. He lived in the 100 block of South Circle
Avenue.
Bartlett police weren’t immediately available to comment Friday morning.
