In Obama's hood three houses from him

Two people are in custody, including a juvenile, and are facing armed robbery charges after police arrested them early this morning minutes after they held up a man at gunpoint, police said.

The boy and the man are being questioned and police are investigating whether they are responsible for similar crimes, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.

At about 12:15 a.m., police who were conducting a routine patrol were flagged down by a 25-year-old man on the 5300 block of South Drexel Avenue in the Hyde Park neighborhood.

The man told police that he was returning to his home from a trip and was carrying a laptop bag with an Apple laptop inside and a duffel bag along with his passport when three men went up to him and demanded the items, Mirabelli said.

One of the men had a gun and another man punched him, causing cuts and abrasions. The victim told the police the men fled in a 2003 gold Pontiac Grand Prix.

Police were able to track down the car and tried to pull it over but the men sped off, running through a red light, police said. Eventually, police managed to stop the car near 47th and Wentworth Avenue where the people jumped out and ran on foot, Mirabelli said.

Two of the people were caught a short distance away but the third person managed to escape.

Police found a loaded .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun as well as the stolen items in the car, Mirabelli said.

Charges are pending.

Panhandlers suit Chicago and the Police for Harrassment

Below is an article about how some low life slum fucks are trying to get easy money. but we lock em up and they come right back. They pester hard working folks for their hard earned money so they can get dope or booze but when the cops do their job they get suited fuck that These scum should not get one dime.

Two civil rights attorneys filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the City of Chicago saying the Police Department is unlawfully intimidating panhandlers from asking for money on the

The lawsuit filed in federal court in Chicago alleges that police officers are forcing panhandlers off Michigan Avenue by telling them it is illegal to panhandle there and threatening to arrest them if they do not move.

The suit accuses the city of trying to “whitewash” the Magnificent Mile, putting the interests of local businesses above panhandlers' constitutional rights.

“The city is engaging in short-term bullying tactics in the name of promoting commerce,” said Mark Weinberg, a lawyer on the case. Adele Nicholas is also a lawyer on the case.

Weinberg and Nicholas are seeking to have the lawsuit declared a class-action suit.

Weinberg has filed five other lawsuits on behalf of panhandlers in Illinois, including a 2001 class-action lawsuit that alleged the city’s definition of disorderly conduct to include panhandling was illegal, Weinberg said.

The suit, settled in 2003, entitled around 5,000 panhandlers to a payout of $400 each from the city, Weinberg said.

Lawyers are asking the court for compensatory damages for the nine named plaintiffs in the latest case.

A Chicago Police Department representative would not comment on the pending lawsuit.

Cubs and Sox to pay tribute to the Chicago Police

The Cubs and White Sox will hold separate tributes Wednesday to honor Chicago police officers for their work during the weekend NATO summit and the Crosstown series held at Wrigley Field.

The Sox will hold an in-game tribute as they play the Minnesota Twins and also will provide two complimentary tickets to each police officer for one of 10 future games.

‘‘Mayor Emanuel asked the White Sox to join the city in honoring the men and women of the Chicago Police Department who represent the most dedicated and finest of our great city, and we are proud to recognize their service,’’ Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said.

Chicago police officers have demonstrated supreme dedication, professionalism and training,’’ Emanuel said. ‘‘This is an incredible gesture by the White Sox to honor the commitment of our men and women in uniform, and I extend my most sincere gratitude to this tremendous Chicago organization.’’

The Cubs will host a Police Appreciation Day at the 19th District near Wrigley Field ‘‘as a thank-you to our local district and other assisting officers’ service during NATO and the Crosstown series,’’ said Julian Green, the Cubs’ vice president of communications and community affairs. ‘‘We had planned this prior to NATO.’’

Oprah puts one of her Chicago condos on market for $2.8M

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network
Media giant and former talk-show host Oprah Winfrey placed her eight-room, 4,607-square-foot Streeterville co-op unit on the market on Tuesday for $2.8 million, half of what she paid for the unit in 2006.

The three-bedroom unit never was Winfrey's home. She paid $5.6 million for the sixth-floor unit in 2006, but had a change of heart after buying it, opting to remain in her massive duplex condominium spread in a different building a few blocks away.

From June 2008 until January 2009, Winfrey had the unit on the market for significantly more than she does today, seeking fully $6 million for it. Late last year, Winfrey, who ended her long-running, Chicago-based talk show almost exactly a year ago, had placed the co-op up for rent for $15,000.

Now, Winfrey, who spends much of her time in California and Hawaii, has the unit up for sale. She does not have her massive duplex condo in Streeterville on the market at this time.

The unit that Winfrey is trying to sell is one of 13 apartments in a Beaux-Arts-style building that was built in 1913 and designed by architect Benjamin Marshall. It has three full baths, two half baths, 10-foot ceilings, two fireplaces, an inner foyer, a library, a solarium, a formal dining room, a butler's pantry, a wine room, a custom eat-in kitchen, a 1,241-square-foot master bedroom with his and hers bathrooms and an en-suite guest bedroom.

Listing agent Colette Connelly of Rubloff did not respond to a request for comment.

Winfrey owns several other pieces of residential real estate in the Chicago area, including a house in Elmwood Park that she purchased in 2001 for $298,000 and a house in Merrillville, Ind. Her primary residence is her estate in Montecito, Calif., which she purchased in 2001 for a reported $50 million.

The producer's at the studio sent this over. They placed all the pictures they recieved about Nato and put them it to this 15 minute video. I watched it and they did a great job they have come along way. This and the 3rd district Chicago police are the best thus far. The studio has informed me they are planning on doing 8 minute clips of this but that the 15 minute one is the whole thing.
