Wire wearer cop Keith
Herrera from the Chicago Police Special Operations Section (SOS) gets only TWO
MONTHS in jail for robbing drug dealers... Hey Keith, you know what they do to
rat finks in the Federal Prison? Maybe lube your ass before going
in....
A former Chicago cop may be hated for wearing a wire on a fellow corrupt officer, but he “did the right thing,” his father said after his sentencing Friday.
Keith Herrera, 34, got just two months in prison for his role in robbing drug dealers while he worked for the Special Operations Section, which was disbanded in 2007 because of the scandal.
Herrera was the last officer sentenced in a federal investigation of the roving citywide unit. His voice cracking with emotion, Herrera told U.S. District Judge Blanche Manning he was ashamed.
“I should have done the right thing and exposed what was going on,” Herrera said.
But he said he was scared at the time.
“To be honest, judge, I didn’t want to say a word about it,” Herrera said.
Prosecutors argued for a lenient sentence for Herrera because he eventually cooperated with the FBI in an investigation of his partner, Jerome Finnigan.
