A man was shot and fatally wounded in the Grand Crossing neighborhood this morning, police said.
The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious-to-critical condition following the shooting about 8:30 a.m. in the 7400 block of South Dorchester Avenue, said Chicago Fire Department spokeswoman Meg Ahlheim. The victim was believed to have suffered at least two gunshot wounds.
The man, believed to be 28, died later at Northwestern, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
Several men or boys walked up to the man on the street and at least one of them started shooting, striking him several times, including in the chest and arm, Mirabellisaid.
