A missing person, a loaded handgun and crack cocaine
were discovered Saturday night when Lake
County sheriff's deputies made a traffic stop in north suburban Gurnee.
About 10 p.m. Saturday, two Lake County deputies stopped a 1998 Isuzu near
Grand Avenue and Brookside Drive, according to a news release from the Lake
County Sheriff's Office.
After speaking with the driver, police found he was driving on a suspended
license. One of his passengers, Gordon L. Johnson, 45, was on parole for a
homicide and had crack cocaine in his possession, according to the release.
A female who had been reported missing and endangered from the Fox Lake area
also was inside the car.
All three were taken into custody.
When the deputies subsequently searched the vehicle, they found a loaded
handgun on the floor near the front passenger side where Johnson was sitting,
according to the release.
The driver, Samuel Alcock, 48, of the 200 block of West Street in Waukegan,
was charged with driving with a suspended license and driving with no insurance.
He was released on a personal recognizance bond, officials said.
Johnson, of the 1200 block of Grove Street in North Chicago, was charged with
unlawful possession of a controlled substance and aggravated unlawful use of a
weapon, officials said. He was ordered held on $40,000 and his next court date
was scheduled for May 8.
