Lauren Obrien, 18, of the 300 block of North Morgan Lane in Fox River
Grove, has been charged with armed robbery and aggravated robbery, police said.
Austin Pierce has been charged in three of the robberies and is being held in
Cook County Jail in lieu of $60,000 bail, and also faces charges in connection
with a series of robberies on the North Shore this month.
Police originally had suspected the two in the robberies of five stores
between 5:30 p.m. May 15 and 10 a.m. May 22, and issued an alert May 23. In each
case, a person approached a clerk and showed a note saying the robber is armed
with a syringe, knife or gun, police said. A syringe and knife were displayed in
two of the robberies.
The robberies cited in the original alert happened on the 1300 block of West
Fullerton Avenue, the 1100 block of West Webster Avenue, the 2000 block of North
Clybourn Avenue, the 1200 block of West Fullerton Avenue, and the 900 block of
West Webster Avenue.
Obrien is charged with using a knife to rob a store in the 2000 block of
North Clybourn on May 20 at 11:20 a.m., and fleeing with about $120. The second
robbery in which she’s charged happended after the police alert was issued—and
after Pierce was arrested. On May 25 about at 6:45 p.m., also in the 2000 block
of North Clybourn, Obrien threatened to use a syringe on a store clerk and fled
with $215, police said.
Court information on Obrien was not immediately available. Pierce, who
originally appeared in court the day after the police alert was issued, was
scheduled to appear in Branch 50 of Cook County Criminal Court on June 13.

This election has me
very worried. So many things to consider. I like so many others that were fooled voted for Obama. McCain was a
Washington insider and we don't
need any more of them. I have changed my mind three times, since then. I watch
all the news channels, jumping from one to another. I must say this drives my
husband crazy. But, I feel if you view CNN, and Fox News, you might get some
middle ground to work with. I started thinking "where does all the money come
from for President Obama"? I have four daughters, who went to College, and we
were middle class, and money was tight. We (including my girls) worked hard and
there were lots of student loans. I started looking into Obama's history for my
own peace of mind.
Around 1979 Obama started college at Occidental in
California . He is very open
about his two years at Occidental; he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting
his time but, even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his
studies. "Barry" (that was the name he used all his life) during this time had
two roommates, Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from
Pakistan . During the summer
of 1981, after his second year in college, he made a "round the world" trip.
Stopping to see his mother in Indonesia , next
Hyderabad in
India , three weeks in
Karachi , Pakistan where he stayed with
his roommate's family, then off to Africa to visit his father's
family.
My question - Where did he get the money for this trip? Neither
I, nor any one of my children would have had money for a trip like this when
they were in college. When he came back he started school at ColumbiaUniversity in
New
York . It is at this time
he wants everyone to call him Barrack - not Barry. Do you know what the tuition
is at Columbia ? It's not cheap to
say the least. My girls asked me; where did he get money for tuition? Student
Loans? Maybe it's none of my business?
After Columbia , he went to
Chicago to work as a
Community Organizer for $12,000 a year. Why Chicago ? Why not
New
York ? He was already
living in New
York . By "chance" he met
Antonio "Tony" Rezko, born in AleppoSyria , and a real estate
developer in Chicago . Rezko has been
convicted of fraud and bribery several times in the past and in 2011. Rezko, was
named "Entrepreneur of the Decade" by the Arab-American Business and
Professional Association". About two years later, Obama entered
HarvardLawSchool .Do
you have any idea what tuition is for HarvardLawSchool
? Where did he get the money for LawSchool? More student loans?
His family has no money that's for sure. After Law school,
he went back to Chicago . Rezko offered him a
job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill
& Galland. Guess what I discovered? They represented "Rezar" which is
Rezko's firm. Rezko was one of Obama's first major financial contributors when
he ran for office in Chicago . In 2003, Rezko
threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David
Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with "seed money" for his
U.S. Senate race. In
2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwood District of
Chicago
for $1.65 million (less than asking price). With ALL those Student Loans - Where
did he get the money for this property? On the same day Rezko's wife, Rita,
purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price. The LondonTimes reported that
Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks
before Obama's new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with
Rezko. Now, we have Obama
running for President. Valerie Jarrett was Michele Obama's boss. She is now
Obama's chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking
to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz , Iran ! Am I going nuts or
is there a pattern here?
On May
10, 2008, The Times reported,
Robert Malley advisor to Obama was "sacked" after the press found out he was
having regular contacts with "Hamas", which controls Gaza and is connected with
Iran . This past week,
buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during
Obama's visit to Iraq , he asked their
leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will "Take
care of things". What the heck does that mean? Oh,
and by the way, remember the college roommates that were born in
Pakistan
? They are in charge of all those "small" Internet campaign contributions for
Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and middle class in this
country? Or could it be from the Middle
East
? And the final bit
of news. On September 7,
2009, The Washington Times
posted a verbal slip that was made on "This Week" with George Stephanopoulos.
Obama on talking about his religion said, "My Muslim faith". When questioned,
"he made a mistake". Some mistake huh?
All of the above information I got
on line. If you would like to check it - Wikipedia, encyclopedia, Barrack Obama;
Tony Rezko; Valerie Jarrett: Daily Times - Obama visited Pakistan in 1981; The
Washington Times - September 7,
2008; The Times
May 10,
2008.
Now the BIG
question - If I found out all this information on my own, Why haven't all of our
"intelligent" members of the press been reporting this? Is this a Kettle of
Fish??
As Arsenio Hall would say.----"HUMMMMMMM! Does something stink or
is it my imagination?" These are legitimate questions for our
president.

The Sarge being a diehard Sox fan is very happy that they are in first place it brings me back to the 2005 Season when they staied in first and won the series. If they can do that this season then the CUBS truely do suck. Speaking of the Cubs I was amazed they won a game holy shit I thought that was impossible.
Don’t start making plans to buy tickets yet, however.
Chicago's lakefront is often arctic in February, and the stadium might not be
big enough to host a Super Bowl.
Goodell was on hand to applaud the Bears and the
Chicago
Park District for making Soldier Field the first NFL stadium to receive LEED
certification for its environmentally sustainable attributes.
Saturday Night Live DA Coach is all chocked up about the newly elected Mayor of Chicago wanting to host a Super Bowl
But Emanuel said he had the Super Bowl on his mind
when the two met privately before the news conference. "I found out a secret,
and that is the commissioner's in-laws live in the area, and I'm holding them
hostage until that happens," Emanuel said.
"We talked about 'Why
Chicago?' " the mayor added. "Two weeks ago, had a bunch of world leaders here,
NATO
summit, and if we can do that, it would be an appropriate place to have a
Super Bowl.”
The NFL will hold its first open-air Super Bowl in a cold
weather city in the Meadowlands in New Jersey in 2014. Goodell said the league's
position on repeating the experiment will depend a lot on how things go
then.
Goodell also acknowledged Soldier Field's relatively small capacity
could be an issue.
But with increased seating and changes in code allowing for more people in
its suites, the stadium's capacity has grown since its 2001-2003 renovation from
61,500 to about 63,500.
The home of the Indianapolis Colts, Lucas Oil
Stadium, has a usual capacity of about 63,000 for football games, which
would make it the smallest capacity stadium behind Soldier Field, but that was
increased to about 68,000 for this year’s Super Bowl, according to the NFL.
Lucas Oil Stadium also has a retractable roof, however.
Also important, Goodell said, is the need to be able to host the many people
who come into the city just to be a part of the event without attending the game
Some familiar faces will be missing from Taste
of Chicago this year, as the annual food and entertainment festival
downsizes in the face of declining revenues.
Taste in 2012 will be five days shorter (five days, down from 10 in previous
years) and considerably smaller. Thursday, the city released the names of this
year's restaurants; there will be 37 full-time participants this year, down from
57 a year ago. Which means 20 restaurants that had participated in the 2011
Taste won’t be around this summer.
Guey Lon, which had been in every Taste of Chicago
since the event was created in 1980, won't be in Grant
Park this summer. Vermilion, which has been a Taste participant for four
straight years, also will be gone. Others missing in action are Adobo Grill,
Harry Caray’s and Polka Sausage and Deli.
Several restaurant owners say they dropped out voluntarily.
“A lot of people lost money last year, us included,” said Guey Lon owner Jean
Lee. “We’re a small restaurant; we have to at least break even to do (Taste).
This year, with only five days, it’s very iffy; if it rains one day, you’ve had
it. I wish the restaurants this year good luck and good weather.”
Rohini Dey, owner of Vermilion and its sister property, At Vermilion in New
York, said she dropped out for workload reasons.
“Putting together a staff for Taste is not a small thing,” she said. “Between
here and New York, I’m strapped.”
Of the 37 remaining participants, all but one have
been at Taste before. The sole newcomer is Pazzo’s, a Loop
restaurant that will be serving chicken vesuvio sandwiches and tiramisu at
Taste.
Eli’s Cheesecake, the only remaining restaurant to have participated in every
Taste of Chicago, will be back. So will Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria, which has been
at every Taste of Chicago but the very first one.
In addition, 15 first-time participants will be at
Taste for one day each. These so-called Pop-Up restaurants, including Arun’s and
West
Town Tavern, are by definition joining Taste for the first time. There will
be three Pop-Up booths at Taste each day.
Taste of Chicago will run July 11-15 in Grant Park.

Three men abandoned their weekend robbery attempt
when the Northwestern
University student they had confronted pointed out that they were standing
in front of the university police station.
The incident began about 10:40 p.m. Sunday as the student walked east in the
500 block of Clark Street, according to a university alert. The student passed a
large group of men walking toward him on the south side of the street, and as he
passed, one person in the group yelled "yo" at him, the alert states.
The student did not respond and kept walking, turning north on the east side
of Hinman Avenue. Three men approached him and demanded his money.
"Empty your pockets or we'll shoot you," the alert quotes one of the would-be
robbers. The men did not display a weapon, the alert notes.
The student told the three men that he didn't think it was a good idea to rob
him while they were standing in front of the university police station,
according to the alert.
The three men fled south on Hinman and west on Clark. The student was unable
to provide police with a detailed description of the men, and neither Evanston
police officers nor university police were able to locate them.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact Evanston police at
847-866-5000.

SPRINGFIELD --- Illinois lawmakers today approved a $1-a-pack cigarette tax
hike to generate more money for health care for low-income people.
The Senate voted 31-27 in favor, sending the
measure to Gov. Pat Quinn, who
has said he supports it.
The state cigarette tax would rise from 98 cents a pack to $1.98 a pack.
If it passes, the state would generate $350 million and use it to leverage
another $350 million from the federal government.
Another provision would
put in place a new tax on the state's hospitals with the hopes of generating $50
million that could leverage another $50 million from Washington.
Police have been on the scene of a barricade situation where a man has
refused to come down from a roof top on the Northwest Side in the city's Logan
Square neighborhood.
The situation started shortly before 5 a.m. on the 2400 block of North
Ridgeway Avenue, police said.
Preliminary reports said a man was on top of a roof and refused to come
down.
As of 4 p.m., the situation was ongoing and police were still at the scene,
said Police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti.
Police could not provide any further details about the incident.
Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed annually in the United States on the last Monday of May.[1] Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.[2] Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died in all wars. It typically marks the start of the summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks its end.
Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, particularly to honor those who have died in military service. Many volunteers place an American flag on each grave in national cemeteries.[3]
By the early 20th century, Memorial Day was an occasion for more general expressions of memory, as people visited the graves of their deceased relatives in church cemeteries, whether they had served in the military or not. It also became a long weekend increasingly devoted to shopping, family gatherings, fireworks, trips to the beach, and national media events such as the Indianapolis 500 auto race, held since 1911 on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.[4]
Annual Decoration Days for particular cemeteries are held on a Sunday in late spring or early summer in some rural areas of the American South, notably in the mountains. In cases involving a family graveyard where remote ancestors as well as those who were deceased more recently are buried, this may take on the character of an extended family reunion to which some people travel hundreds of miles. People gather on the designated day and put flowers on graves and renew contacts with kinfolk and others. There often is a religious service and a "dinner on the ground," the traditional term for a potluck meal in which people used to spread the dishes out on sheets or tablecloths on the grass. It is believed that this practice began before the American Civil War and thus may reflect the real origin of the "memorial day" idea. [5]
The Philadelphia Conventionadopted the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787 [01]. Anyone born after that date must be a natural born citizen in order to be eligible to serve as President of the United States [02].
President Obama's father, Barack Obama Senior (1936-1982), was a British East African (Kenyan) native who never became a U.S. citizen. President Obama -- regardless of where he was born -- acquired British nationality, at birth, by descent from his father. The President publicly admits that his citizenship status, at birth, was "governed" by the British Nationality Act of 1948 (see Barack Obama's "fight the smears" website).
FactCheck.org has confirmed President Obama's foreign citizenship at birth:
...at the time of his birth, Barack Obama Jr. was both a U.S. citizen (by virtue of being born in Hawaii) and a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies (or the UKC) by virtue of being born to a father who was a citizen of the UKC. (FactCheck.org: Obama's Kenyan Citizenship)
An increasing number of Americans are concerned that, since President Obama was born with foreign nationality (in addition to U.S. citizenship), he might not be a "natural born citizen" and therefore might not be eligible, under the Constitution, to serve as president [04].
