The Cook County sheriff's office is one step closer to searching a Northwest Side apartment building where serial killer John Wayne Gacy may have buried bodies or other evidence, a sheriff's spokesman said today.

The Cook County state's attorney's office gave its approval late Friday to the sheriff's office's request to obtain a search warrant for the apartment building in the 6100 block of West Miami Avenue, where Gacy's mother once lived and Gacy once worked as a maintenance employee, sheriff's spokesman Frank Bilecki said.

"Speculation about this property has been out there for many, many years," Bilecki said. "This whole Gacy case has taken so many different twists and turns, (so) being able to close a chapter of it at this property would be nice."

The site was previously investigated after a retired Chicago police homicide detective tipped authorities to the fact that he had seen Gacy in the yard with a shovel in his hand at 3 a.m. one morning in the 1970s. That dig, in November 1998, turned up a glass marble and a flattened saucepan, but no bodies, according to Tribune accounts of the Chicago police excavation.

Sheriff Tom Dart returned to the Gacy case in 2011 when he exhumed the skeletons of several unidentified victims in the hopes DNA could help identify them. The inquiry led to the identification of one victim, William George Bundy, a Chicagoan who disappeared at age 17.

At the time, Dart said detectives assigned to the Gacy investigation were considering a number of other investigative avenues.

Last March, the state's attorney's office denied a request from the sheriff's office to re-investigate the Miami Avenue site, saying the sheriff's office did not have probable cause to obtain a warrant.

Sheriff's investigators have gathered more evidence since then, which led to approval from the state's attorney's office on Friday, Bilecki said.

Still, any work at the site is likely weeks or even months away, Bilecki said. A judge still must sign off on the warrant, and the sheriff's office will have to enlist the help of the FBI and private companies to search the property, he said.

The work will be relatively non-invasive, Bilecki said. Investigators will use devices that scan the ground for anomalies, he said. If any are found, a small hole will be drilled in the ground at that spot, and cadaver dogs will then sniff that spot, he said.

"We're not going in with backhoes and the whole nine yards," Bilecki said. "We don't expect to be there more than a day."

Gacy was convicted of the murders of 33 young men and boys in the 1970s, all but one of them strangled, many of them recovered in his crawl space. He was executed by lethal injection at Stateville Correctional Center, near Joliet, in 1994.

What brought sheriff's officials back to the property was that, during the 1998 dig, only two spots were excavated even though radar surveys of the property reportedly detected more than a dozen anomalies under the ground.

That raised the suspicions of the retired detective who initially tipped police to the Gacy connection, Bill Dorsch. He provided the Tribune a letter from the radar company saying the initial dig was incomplete.

"In a proper investigation," the letter said, "the authorities would have been more willing to excavate any possibility."

Dorsch, who retired in 1994 from the Chicago Police Department after 24 years, recalled that one day at 3 a.m., as he came home from work, he saw Gacy with a shovel and they chatted briefly.

After Gacy's arrest, he called sheriff's officials with the information about him, assuming officials would investigate the tip and potentially excavate. That apparently did not happen until the 1998 excavation.

A 17-year-old boy was being treated for a gunshot wound on the South Side this afternoon, police said.
The shooting happened at about 12:30 p.m. in an alley on the 11700 block of South Normal Avenue, according to police.
The boy sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder, police said.
Officials said that the teen was taken to Roseland Hospital for treatment. No other information, including the teen's condition, was available.
And This is the reason why the federal Government wants to put gun bans in to play. I say if the government can not control these apes then it is high time we start hanging them from the trees they are born in.

Gun Controll in Illinois

I sit here and think to my self over 500 people were killed in Chicago alone. In just 12 days there have been 20 murders so far and the police say they are gang related but 2 of them occurred at 71st and Jeffery Blvd. One guy was blind and him and his dog were shot and one inocent person walking with his wife was gunned down as they ran in to an alley to take cover from the shooting on the bus stop. But Illinois wants to pass harder gun laws to hurt the law abiding citizens, but the criminals can care less about new gun laws they can get them where ever they want. So I am going to go in to englewood and kick in every gang member's door hit them with a baseball bat then string them up to a light pole and then gut them and leave their entrails on the side walk. Hey Chicago your homicide rates going to go up now what you got last year I'll do in two nights all over the city. you better notify the medical examiner and streets and sanitation since the streets will be lined with blood. if anyone wants to join me your more then welcome to join me. If Illinois continues to violate my civil rights then I will come to my office and fire you.

Chicago's Top Cop on gun laws so no more guns



 

Now here is something fucked up how is it our politicians and cops can enjoy the freedoms provided by the constitution but the law abiding citizen can not. Ok well I am not the police I carry my gun all the time on my hip I dare one of the cops to try to come lock me up. Infact I am going to buy a AR-15 and a 50 cal With 40 round mags and I am going to go shopping in my local Walmart and Dominick's ok and if one cop thinks your going to disarm and charge me with a UUW think about this how is it going to effect you and your family cause If you don't take them forcefully then your going to give up your house and retirment funds garenteed.

 

 

Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy today called for tougher gun laws and reiterated his opposition to legalizing the concealed carry of handguns in Illinois.

One bad ass Security officer

What's on the sarges mind found out that in 2011 on July 4th two badass mother fuckers from the old housing unit were enjoying a BBQ on th 4th of July excersizing their right to carry while on private property when a idiot on the block brought out an AK-47 to the party. Thinking quickly both off duty and retired security officer's took this man in to custody and took one bad gun off the streets of Summit. We also herd of another badass security officer that works in Chicago and took one offender and his gun off the street. The way it's said is that the officer was entering a store on his beat to purchas something to eat when he noticed a gun pointing at the cashier quick on the draw pulled his weapon and order the gun men to drop the gun and ordered him to the ground. However the gunmen looked at the officer and ran out the door not knowing police were coming to a hold up alarm ran in to one cop and continued to give chase catching the guy in a alley about 5 blocks away and later found the gun with no mag and no bullet in the pipe on the ground by the business about two blocks where the chase started from. What's on the sarges mind found out this is the same badass that took the AK off the street in Summit with his retired Lt. This officer is a former housing unit viper.
The viper unit was a badass get a warrant and that day go serve it.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel today named a seven-member panel to advise the city as it explores the possibility of privatizing Midway Airport.

The committee will be asked to represent the public interest in any potential transaction -- clearly a nod to public skepticism about privatization deals in the wake of the highly unpopular parking meter transaction.

The panel includes two urban planning specialists, a parking executive who donated to Emanuel's election campaign and is a close friend of President Barack Obama, two key alderman, a labor leader and one former alderman.

Peter Skosey, executive vice president of the Metropolitan Planning Council, will be chairman of the committee, while James Connolly, of the Chicago Laborers District Council, will be vice chairman.

Martin Nesbitt, co-founder of PRG Parking Management, which has lots near O'Hare International Airport, was named as well. A friend of Obama, he donated $5,000 to Emanuel's campaign.

The committee also includes Ald. Michael Zalewski, 23rd, who chairs the Aviation Committee and represents the Southwest Side ward that includes Midway and Ald. Carrie Austin, 34th, chair of Budget Committee and the longest serving African-American alderman.

Zalewski and Austin both have been reliably pro-Emanuel votes on the City Council.

Former steel executive Frank Beal, now executive director of Metropolis Strategies, was named as was attorney Martin Oberman, a former alderman. Beal donated $250 to Emanuel's campaign.

The panel will select a financial advisory firm with expertise in evaluating transactions to work with it.

The mayor's office said the panel will provide written reports to the public, which will be posted online, throughout the exploration process, and reiterated the city council will have at least 30 days to review any potential deal.

"These civic leaders will be vigilant protectors of taxpayer interests as we explore potential opportunities with Midway Airport," said Mayor Emanuel. "Any potential deal must pass an extremely high threshold and this committee will ensure transparency, integrity and thorough deliberation in this process."

Crain's Chicago Business first reported a panel would be named Friday.

Last month the city decided to retain a slot for Midway in the Federal Aviation Administration's airport privatization pilot program.

Later this month, the city will issue a request for qualifications from firms interested in putting forward proposals. The city will require that any long-term lease be kept to less than 40 years.

The city also will require that proposals include ongoing funding for capital improvements; provisions for sharing revenue with the city; and assurances that costs for parking, food and beverages will be kept reasonable, the mayor's office said.

Animal makes terrorist threat on CTA bus in 'jihad'

A man threatened to blow up a CTA bus and told police he was "jihad against the white devil" this week, causing evening rush hour passengers to flee in fear for their lives, authorities said.

A judge set bail at $90,000 Tuesday for Caleb Russell, 23, of the 4700 block of South Woodlawn Avenue, who was charged with making a bomb threat, a felony, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office and police.

Russell was aboard a CTA bus that was westbound on Chicago Avenue at Orleans Street in the River North neighborhood Monday about 6:20 p.m. when officers on patrol saw the bus stop in the middle of the intersection, according to a police report.

Several passengers told police that Russell made derogatory and racial remarks and threatened to “blow this (expletive) up,’’ the report said.

Russell also began yelling racial slurs at responding officers and said he was “jihad against the white devil,’’ the report said.

After the driver pushed the panic button, numerous passengers who “feared for their lives’’ exited from the rear and front of the bus, the report said.

Russell's next court date was scheduled for Monday.
